btw, I am confused about the purpose of the archive mod. I thought what it did was remove posts from your database and store them as HTML pages in order to reduce database size on huge forums.

Instead, all it seems to do is display the forum posts but with no gfx, features, etc.

Its made more for spiders to index. Most archives are setup similar, they also include "View actual post" which takes you to the graphical version. By it doing this, that also means the post was not deleted from the DB.

oh, ok. That does make sense.

Though I am still of the opion that a "true archiving" system such as a I described would indeed be useful for very large forums

I dont need to read a post to understand you, i understand your idea & thoughts on an archive. I would rather not remove posts from my database, most people dont. Thats about the only reason mine doesn't.

Well as a temp fix if you have control of your php.ini file just increase your memory.
memory_limit = ?MB

And would it be possible for you to add some kind of line like this Austin?

ini_set("memory_limit","12M"); To the script. I don't know. I was just reading about it. It wouldn't hurt to try.

----
In Archive
----
include($phpbb_root_path .'common.'. $phpEx);
ini_set("memory_limit","12M");

Actually, i am going ot see if i can clean up the SQL calls, as thats what is overloading the memory, before i add an ini_set()

Still getting the error with the archive.

Code:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 104857600 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 55 bytes) in /var/www/vhosts/phpbb-tweaks.com/httpdocs/db/mysql4.php on line 510

Also, I have been getting connection time-outs every few page loads as well. I think this site needs some optimizations.
