Post subject: Security daily backup Reply with quote

I have been running the security code and the daily backup for over a year now and I decided to test the backup by restoring my forum to a test data base. The restore reveals that I have not backed up the complete data base. I use bigDump to upload and import the sql backup. At completion there are 51 fields in the DB where I actually have 74 total. The 54th one being "phpbb_words".

All my backups tend to be 6112KB. Is my ISP killing my dump?

I found the line in phpbb_security.php:
system("mysqldump -u". $dbuser ." -p". $dbpasswd ." ". $dbname ." > ". (($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']) ? $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] : $HTTP_SERVER_VARS['DOCUMENT_ROOT']) . $board_config['script_path'] . $backup_folder ."/". $backup_file ."-". date('Y-m-d') .".sql", $fp);

To my limited knowledge this should dump the whole database. I used phpMyAdmin to "Export" the database and that works with a total file size of 6323KB. The basic backup from the phpBB2 admin panel doesn't bother with any mod fields (only those with "phpbb_").

Any thoughts on why the backup is not complete? Is there any way to verify a backup with out actually restoring it to a test DB?

Cheers,
Stan

ps: I found a simple mod for the phpBB2 admin utility that does a complete backup of the DB. Backing up the database with out the mod fields isn't too helpful. After the mod, my phpBB admin, manual backup file size was 9428KB and appears to have everything. But I still don't know wht the daily backup from the security mod truncates at 6112KB.

If it doesn't do a complete backup, its timing out. Typically that can be cured by raising the memory limit.

OK, I looked for where I raise the "memory limit" and flamed out.

Where does one raise the memory limit?

If you have access to the php.ini its there. If you dont, you'll have to ask your host.
