It appears you are using a browser that is not based on Internet Explorer, this means you are not viewing the web as good as you should be. Other browsers might try to immitate Internet Explorer, but none can parse the web as it should like Internet Explorer can. So view the web as it was meant to be with Avant Browser!

| Post subject: Sub Forum modification please??? |
|
|
I get a lot of complaints about where clicking a hidden forum link does not take you directly to a forum and then to get to another you have to go back out the long way.
Here is a post one of my moderators wrote concerning this:
The band subforum in the way it's put together, actually discourages me from reading that forum. If, for example, I want to click on just one band's name and read about that from the index page, I am instead taken to the main band page. Not only does this make no sense at all (I click on a link, I expect to be able to go directly to that link), but there's such a lot of bands there that there's just no way I'm going to wade through all of those band-specific posts to moderate the band forum. Every time I want to switch bands, I have to go back to the main band page and click another link, rather than scrolling to the top of the band subforum I'm reading and clicking a direct link from there. The band forum setup is, for want of a better way of putting it, unfriendly.
My only suggestion, unfortunately, is mentioned above -- that both the bands and the new forum would be more "friendly" if either the links on the index page actually went directly to where they say they're going, or if the links were removed entirely, and the bands (subforums links) were only listed in text, non-click-able. I'd have NO problem with the subforum setup if the links worked properly, but clicking the same link more than once to get to the specified page really bugs me. If the new forum can be set up so that the links go where they say they'll go on the first click, this idea will totally rock.

This this will be fixed any time soon? |

Sure, you can modify the links in index.php to goto the direct forum instead of the sub listing.
I prefer it that way so i can see all my sub forums, the topics/posts in them, etc.. at a glance. Doing it this way i didn't have to code in another link "View Sub-Forums" or something like that....
I might be able to come up with something, but no promises! |

I was looking to see how to make the index link revised to link to the actual forum and I don't see how to add the direct link.
Where would I go to do this? |
