why is it telling me i need to pay a subscription fee, to read the support pages for your phpbb mod ?? this is a joke correct ??,, im having issues with it, but i can promise you it will be removed before i will pay a subscription fee.

Sometimes its not all about the money, There are alternate ways to get a website to support itself..

It's not a joke, you have to pay in order to recieve support.

And yes, it's all about money because Austin have to pay to mantain this site and it's working for us for free.

But lucky mod releases are going to remain free.

I run several websites, and help with many many others and i can tell you unless YOU value your time very much, hosting and maintaning a website is NOT expensive, even top notch hosting will run maybe 50 bucks per month, so let me get this straight, you said "Mods are free, SUpport isnt " do you se the Irony in that ??

Austin, your more then welcome to PM me or email me if you need help supporting this website, but cutting peeps off from support is beyond absurd, unfortunately your security mod has been misbehaving terribly for myself and a few others that i know of after updating to 2.0.18, ill have no choice but to remove it as i cant imagine peeps EN MASSE are gonna pay for support for a single mod, when there are other viable alternatives to it.

i thank you for your support in the past, and some great mods...

He spent to much time supporting it for free, you want him to be on here all the time and have no life? and if it wasn't for the subscribe mod this would be shut down, you cant have everything your own way.

There are only TWO conflicts caused by the new codes in .18

One is the cookie issue & one is the backup. So anyone who has more than that, is not caused by the mod.

And you might see irony, but ive had a hell of alot more time since i started this new way. Alot less lazy people posting the same things over & over. Alot more time to actually answer support posts. And simply put, more time for me & my family because i am not on here for hours a day answering the same things over & over.

Sorry if that bothers you, but thats how it is for now.

You know I'm not saying this to back aUsTiN up because I'm staff, besides the fact aUsTiN does not need backup or someone explaining his actions. But the proof is in front of your eyes support here is excellent how many times do you come on here and see post's that have never been replied to or an effort to help not be made. Unlike other support sites that have posts on there that has never been replied to , or for that fact how many mod authors have you ever had reply to a support email in a timely fashion. As for hosting not being to expensive that's not the point the point is paying hosting for a site AND having the ability to give your time to it for helping others, working 60 , 70 or more hours a week and supporting your families and spending quality time with them. When you weigh all that together time becomes money. You gotta realize there's alot of younger people on here who are not old enough to work so they have loads of time to spend on the net. Speaking for myself and aUsTiN as well we have full time jobs. Which puts a toll on you trying to work all them hours and then come on the net for hours on end just to try to keep up with support. So with a subsciption fee its gonna cut down on double postings for same issues and the members who pay are the ones who really want the support. Would you rather pay a few dollars a month for support or pay more for the mod itself which I assure you would be more takes more time to make and debug a mod then to give support. I'm done venting now.

Whoa Now, When Did i EVER Say Any of that ?? Lets get Something Straight, i Never questioned Austins Dedication to a SITE he willingly put up himself, NOR have i ever said that he Should be on HIS site 24 hours per day ( i expect a delay in replies, and understand how a messgae board works ), NOR have no life, if its even possible that running a website can lead to "having no life", i dont appreciate words being put in my mouth per say..

i have been very respectfull in my posts, no sarcasm was intended, and i dont think Austin needs his "support team" being overly aggressive..

Austin i Respect your Decision, Whether i agree with it or not, yes your right about the 2 specific issues that your mod has with .18,, but ill have no choice but to remove the mod, as users are having Horriffic login issues, and getting banned right and left..

Sincerely
Strigoi

The bottom line is the subscribe mod is staying put, nothing what you say will change it.

I do somewhat agree with strigoi, but only in the aspect that the security mod is broke on a fresh install of phpbb 2.0.18. Unless aUsTiN has included the fixes in the download.

I might make an exception for security since its such a broad script & can change from phpBB version to version. I wont be giving support, but i might open up a forum for patch fixes inbetween releases.

That would be great and maybe a one time fee per yealy for support would be great also instead of a monthly fee. As i would donate to something like that in a heart beat. I also run this mod on all my sites and have probably installed it on 50+ others and would like to get the cookie/backups working again.

Thanks very much for your time and support as I also know this takes alot away from family time which is more important then anything.

Happy Holidays to U and family.
